The directors of McDowells are excited to announce they have been successful in winning funding through the NSW State government’s recently launched program, ENGINE & EMERGING INDUSTRIES LOAN PILOT.
Co-director of McDowells Catherine Cox said, ‘We are very proud to have been given this endorsement by the NSW Government, particularly given the very competitive field vying for the funds in this pilot program.’
McDowells are pioneers in the animal wellness market and are particularly well known as leaders in the recreational and competitive equine industries and companion animal markets. McDowells have developed a range of proprietary products for horses and dogs which are natural, safe and condition specific and have no pharmaceutical-based competitors. The company is well placed to capture the continuing growth in the companion animal market post the covid boom in pet ownership, as consumers develop an understanding and need for natural solutions to modern chronic health conditions affecting themselves and their pets. Our practitioners, manufacturing and fulfilment teams, marketing and IT staff are immensely proud of the positive changes we make to our clients’ lives daily. From relief for a beloved dog from the pain of osteosarcoma, to helping a horse owner manage chronic laminitis, our customer reviews and feedback are testament to the effectiveness of herbs and McDowells’ exclusive formulas for wellbeing.
Over the last 37 years of natural therapy practice, product research and development McDowells have grown their customer database to over 40,000 clients worldwide.
McDowells director David Mansfield said, ‘The $500,000 in funding will be used to automate our liquid and powder manufacturing facility in Bathurst so we can substantially increase production of our key retail ready horse and dog products.’
‘Our goal is for McDowells to become a household name in Australia and globally, for providing natural, effective, and unique animal health care products.’
‘As the business grows, we anticipate employment opportunities in areas like sales, marketing and manufacturing.’
The new funding will also enable McDowells to begin commercial production of a new patented natural animal feed additive derived from an Australian native plant and designed to support antibiotics used in the commercial production of chickens, pigs and other farmed animals.
‘After 6 years of R & D and field trials we are excited to offer this uniquely Australian product to farmers as a new tool to assist in the growing resistance to antibiotics in the food chain,’ said Catherine.
