ARTHRITIS IN DOGS

Many older dogs get stiff and sore, especially during cooler weather or after exercising. In an older farm dog for example, this is likely due to wear and tear or injury during their working lives. In a younger companion animal, it is more likely to be the result of a diet lacking in raw bones and inappropriate exercise patterns while they were very young.

Arthritis in dogs is a complex condition, where dogs experience pain and inflammation in various joints, which interferes with the activities of daily living.   The cartilage that lines and cushions the joints becomes eroded, exposing the bone ends and leading to painful bone spurs. The joint lining also becomes inflamed and thickened, reducing mobility.

Arthritis causes

There is no single cause of Arthritis in dogs, with many factors that could contribute to a diagnosis. These include:

  • Body conformation
  • Body weight and condition
  • Abnormal joint development
  • Activity history
  • Injury history
  • Nutritional history

Allowing a dog to grow slowly as a puppy and maintaining a lean body condition throughout growth into adulthood, along with good nutrition and regular exercise, are the most important ways to prevent or delay Arthritis in dogs.

This is a long-term treatment and the herbs can be used safely alongside conventional medicines. The program creates an overall approach to reducing stiffness, detoxifying the system, assisting in better movement and helps reduce stiffness throughout the body.
