Millet Meal

Botanical name: Panicum miliaceum

While millet is widely used worldwide, its origins are in Asia and Africa. There is proof that between 10,300 and 8,700 years ago, it was cultivated throughout Asia. Thus, it was prevalent in Asia prior to rice! Indeed, it is believed to be the first dry crop to be grown in East Asia.

One of the healthiest meals you can consume is millets, also referred to as nutri-cereals because of their high vitamin content. Plant-based proteins, complex carbohydrates, fibre, antioxidants, and "good" fats are all abundant in the edible seeds. Additionally, they are loaded with vital minerals and vitamins, such as calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, and B vitamins.

Gluten-free and rich in phenolic compounds that are good for human health, millet also contains flavonoids, phenolic acids, and tannins.

Studies have demonstrated the significant antioxidant activity of the phenolic components found in millet. Because millet grains contain phytochemicals, they improve human health by reducing phytates and cholesterol levels in the body.
