Reviews
Filly and in a short time I could see changes in her behaviour. She is much more relaxed and happy. This is my new favourite supplement!
Thanks to Caths recommendations we got her off any soy products and onto a natural feed regime to help support her hormones. She improved in mood tremendously but was still showing signs of an imbalance in her hormones, that was until we tried ‘Hormonal Mare’.
After one bottle of ‘Hormonal Mare’ she has now successfully cycled for the first time in a year (which very well could be longer for all we know) and she’s begun to maintain her body weight more consistently.
I’m incredibly impressed with this product and so thankful to the McDowells team for their continued guidance and recommendations.
Luckily the owner was happy to find her a more suitable home and I thought she would make a good pony for my future grandchildren. Whatever she turned out to be, I just had to take her from such an unsuitable situation.
When she came home I just turned her out with my little herd to learn how to be a normal horse. Even though she was in good condition she had terrible muscle wastage due to not being able to move around and she hardly knew how to trot.
I noticed straight away that she had a really narky temperament. She had a disconcerting habit of squealing and striking at the other horses and at people with absolutely no warning. Even the horses were taken aback and gave her a wide berth.
I thought her behaviour was a result of the horrible situation she’d come from so I just let her be and thought the other horses would just sort her out eventually. But she didn’t improve.
So I started doing some groundwork with her and teaching her the Parelli seven games and although she learnt a lot and became really lovely to handle and catch she didn’t lose her annoying scary habit. It improved by about 50% but she was still very unpredictable.
Then last spring it came back with a vengeance and she was squirting along with the squealing and striking. It was then that I felt sure it was hormonal and I went straight onto McDowell’s website and found the perfect treatment – McDowell’s Hormonal Mare.
I started feeding her this twice a day but I didn’t handle her for about a month due to being busy with other projects. Just before the farrier came about a month into the treatment I picked up her feet and did some handling and she was just a little angel. When the farrier came I was a little cautious because she would often scare her half to death with a sudden squeal and associated strike. Even though she is little it would give us a huge fright because she just gave no warning.
But there was absolutely no squealing, striking or annoyed behaviour. The Hormonal Mare Mix worked a treat.
When I got her I changed her name to Babyccino because she was small white and frothy. Now she’s not frothy at all – perhaps I’ll have to change her name
