Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of Dementia. Even though the majority of Alzheimer’s sufferers are 65 years and older, there is also early onset conditions with people in their 20s and 30s experiencing this disease. Therefore, Alzheimer’s disease is not a natural part of ageing at all.

Alzheimer’s disease usually has a slow onset but worsens over time. Symptoms such as mild memory loss can develop into complete loss of language and response to environmental stimulus with advanced states.

The complementary herbal therapy approach is to stimulate and reorganize brain function pathways, so that an effective level of day to day quality of life can be maintained. This should mean that language, relationships and a response to the environment (such as familiar surroundings) will not degrade to the point where the person is comatose, but will be seen to be living their life in a normal way.

The herbal mix includes Wormwood, Sage, Bacopa, Mugwort, Elecampane and Horsetail, with the Bach Flowers of Clematis, Elm, Wild Oat, Walnut and White Chestnut.

Apart from the herbal mix, other therapies such as Music, Art and Dance therapy programs, with an emphasis on socialization and relationships, will also be useful in promoting brain function.  Attention to diet, and minimal exposure to alcohol will also be beneficial for Alzheimer sufferers.
