Our wound management program consists of 3 products which work effectively together for wound recovery.
Alleviate 1 Litre, Infect-A-Clear 1 Litre and Wound Recover 200ml.
Alleviate
This formulation has evolved from a consideration of the dangers of administering phenylbutazone (Bute) routinely to horses sensitive to its side effects. Traditionally White Willow Bark and Devils Claw were used for pain relief. Guaiacum was traditionally used for Gout and Burdock as a blood cleanser for Rheumatoid processes. Pine Bark, Rosehips, Elecampane for its Allantoin content together with Yarrow in a Vinegar base all support repair. These herbs have been traditionally used to reduce pain from inflammation and support in the healing process. This formulation may be used safely for both emergencies and in the long term for comfort. The tonic will need to be given continuously for a minimum of 3 weeks, and can be maintained long term if necessary. Improvements are usually observed within 3-6 weeks on the tonic.
Infect-A-Clear
Robust immune systems routinely eliminate ineffective and metabolic waste as part of a healthy system. A system that is overloaded with inflammation, infection or metabolic waste has a much harder time recovering. The herbs in this mix have been traditionally used to stimulate the horse’s own natural elimination which may help to clear these naturally occurring metabolites thereby improving the immune system's response. A 12-week course is advised which is a full blood cycle. The tonic will need to be given continuously for a minimum of 3 weeks and can be maintained long term if necessary.
Wound Recover
This topical styptic will protect the wound from infection and allow it to heal from the inside out, with the minimum of scarring, by taping together the edges of the wound. In the most severe cases it can be used in conjunction with stitching. This product was previously known as Antiseptic Styptic.
