This formulation has evolved from a consideration of the dangers of administering phenylbutazone (Bute) routinely to horses sensitive to its side effects. Traditionally White Willow Bark and Devils Claw were used to manage pain. Guaiacum was traditionally used for Gout and Burdock as a blood cleanser for Rheumatoid processes. Maritime Pine Bark, Rosehips, Elecampane with its Allantoin content , together with Yarrow in a Vinegar base all support and encourage repair.
This formulation may be used safely for both emergencies and in the long term for comfort.
The tonic will need to be given continuously for a minimum of 3 weeks, and can be maintained long term if necessary. Improvements are usually observed within 3-6 weeks on the tonic.

Great product
I've been giving my Arabian mare Enya Alleve8 for a couple of months, and I feel it's definitely helping her. She has some damage to her right fore foot from laminitis, and I think your product is helping to keep her comfortable.
I gave her the initial 20ml twice daily in her feed, which she ate with no problems. But now she's on the maintenance dose of 10ml twice daily, I load it into a small syringe and squirt it into the back of her mouth. She's developed a taste for the stuff, and pops her lips in readiness for it! She swallows it down straight away, then politely asks for the 2 pieces of carrot that she knows will follow!
I feel a large part of her unsoundness is the memory of pain, because when she's focussed on something interesting, she forgets to "save" that foot. So it's a case of keeping her comfortable, toughening up the foot, regular careful trimming, and Enya becoming confident that it's all ok.
My only slightly negative point is that anything good is always jolly expensive! But my sweet girl is worth it!

17yr old with laminitis for the first time.
I did not want to use Bute with this horse after another pony several years ago ended up with stomach/bowel issues post Bute for laminitis. So I ordered Alleve8. This did relieve the discomfort greatly. Prior to it arriving in the mail I used Birch leaves twice a day which did work with some effect but were greatly enhanced with the use of the Alleve8. I would recommend using Alleve8 for all conditions that require anti-inflammatory medication.

Alleve8 is the real MVP and it's always in my stable fridge. I have three of my oldies on Alleve8 as part of their arthritis regime, and it is a wonderful product to have on hand for any unexpected injuries. I cannot speak more highly of this product. Thank you McDowells Herbal for yet another brilliant product.

I have been using this for a rescue Standardbred who was very sore around the hind. After 6 weeks, he is now playing a moving like a young colt! I have also been giving it to my mare, who 1 month ago started head flicking and has now been losing her skin/hair due to photosensitivity .Alleve8 enabled her to tolerate the discomfort and pain of scabbing and now bare skin.

It Really Works
We have been using this for some time now with our mini ponies who both have previously suffered from laminitis and one who has arthritis. It has been a game changer and has eliminated the need for Bute which was our aim. It's great how it can be safely used both long term and short term. Highly recommend Alleviate and will be continuing to use this product along with managing the other factors such as diet relating to laminitis of course. And even better that the ponies don't mind the taste.

Alleve8 works wonders
I started our 23 year old Equestrian Vaulting horse, Rusty on Alleve8 some time ago and the response to pain relief has been amazing. He has not shown signs of needing to return to using Bute as the Alleve8 Tonic is doing wonders.
Rusty has won NSW Vaulting Horse of the year 2 years in a row now (2024 & 2025) and he just keeps winding back the clock.

Great ptoduct
Very happy keeping my aged mare on Alleviate, to help her with arthritis and past hoof damage. She is also on a veterinary medication, with no adverse effects.
