Sarcoids Program

Warts - also known as equine papillomas - are usually small, benign skin growths caused by the equine papillomavirus (EPV). While often harmless, they can be persistent and troublesome, especially if they appear in sensitive or tack-bearing areas.

The three most common type of skin tumours in horses are sarcoids, squamous-cell carcinoma and melanomas. Robust immune systems routinely eliminate infective and metabolic waste as part of a healthy system. A system that is overloaded with inflammation, infection or metabolic waste has a much harder time recovering.

Sarcoids are one of the most common skin conditions affecting horses, and while they can appear externally as growths, they often reflect a deeper imbalance in the body, particularly within the immune and lymphatic systems

Having dealt with sarcoids before, I understand how stubborn they can be to treat and how quickly they can grow if left unchecked. My horse, Harry, had a small sarcoid on the upper muscle of his right front leg, about 15mm in diameter - quite small compared to the size sarcoids can reach.
