Poppy
3 weeks ago I started my 24 yr old warmblood Mare, Poppy on your Cushings liquid. Needed to put a clean rug on as I have been away for 2 weeks and couldn't believe my eyes! With no change to her diet, her dapples have returned and the scaly patches have cleared. The clumpy patches of thicker hair on her body have gone as has the long hairs in her belly and her draft horse socks have also gone! So delighted as she hadn't had a bath or decent brush in ages! So delighted! Be ordering some more shortly! What a great product! THANKYOU so much!

"I have a wonderful story to share"
My miniature horse was diagnosed with cushings disease and following that, founder in all four legs. He was prescribed pergolide and bute for the pain.
I did everything I could to make it easier for him to walk. I then found Cath McDowell's website, and ordered Cushing-S. He got better in 4 days and he is still improving! I'd advise anybody with a problem animal to give her a call!
Thank you Cath!"

Cushings-S is part of the family
I have two older horses on Cushing-S because of different issues. My older Tennessee Walker had chronic diarrhoea and nothing was working to try to get rid of it until Catherine intervened and helped me work out an entire new diet regimen and prescribed Cushing-S which has healed his gut very quickly. Thank you, Cath. I also have a miniature Shetland pony who is on Cushing-S. Her gut was OK but she had reoccurring laminitis. Now that her nutrition is balanced, we have not had any more issues with her feet, thank goodness! Thanks again Cath.

So I will be keeping him on these great supplements long term. Very pleased with the results!
I wanted to send you an update on my gelding since starting him on Metabolic S and Equigesta Pre. He’s 20yo and despite testing negative to Cushings on three occasions now, he certainly has that metabolic look to him. He has struggled every spring and autumn when we get the flush of green grass - his sheath swells and he gets tender footed at times.

I have to manage him carefully by monitoring him closely, he gets locked up in yards overnight and is only fed grassy hay, low sugar/starch base ingredients with the addition of quality vit&min, and other supplements to support him. I did have him on a Cushings type of herbal supplement but it didn’t seem to make much difference.

Then I started looking at the McDowells Herbal range and purchased the Metabolic S and Equigesta Pre products to try. I started them in mid February on the loading doses. It’s been two months now and I’m very pleased with the improvements.

We have gone from dry, stressed grass to green flush after drought breaking rain, and my gelding has coped very well. No swollen sheath throughout this time and he has remained sound. I’ve been able to reduce the doses back to the maintenance regime as well. So I will be keeping him on these great supplements long term. Very pleased with the results!

The vet said to euthanase, thankfully I found McDowells.
Hi Cathy

I have been meaning to for some time to give you an update on my horse Jag, who I wrote to you about in December 18. I have had his teeth done and tested for Cushing’s disease, but am waiting on the results. Jag has been on the Cushing’s S formula twice a day since early December.

When I wrote to you in December, Jag was in a pretty bad way with the prognosis from the Vet that the best thing was to have him put down. Of course I was completely gutted with that prognosis and felt that I had to at least try something that could potentially get Jag back on track. If it didn’t work then at least I had tried.

Well, Jag is still with us and doing very well. When I initially wrote to you in early December I was quite frantic, as I was actually due to go away on holidays and was leaving Jag in the capable hands of my neighbour.

Jag was in a rather terrible state in that he was completely miserable and could hardly walk. I was going away a couple of days after your last email to me and I left strict instructions with my neighbour based on your dietary advice. I was away for 12 days and obviously rather worried, as I wasn’t sure how Jag would go.

When I returned from my trip, I just could not believe the difference. Jag was walking normally and so much brighter. Even my farrier made comment that he could not believe the difference and further commented that whatever I was doing to keep doing it.

I have been following your regime since (-chaff), apart from one biscuit of dry hay at lunch, which I introduced about 3 weeks ago. I have been giving him 250gm soaked speedy beet at lunchtime too. The rest of the hay is soaked. He is fed 4 times a day, as there is absolutely no feed in the small paddock I have Jag in. I have a lovely 19 acre property that is well covered with dry grass, but I am reluctant to put Jag out for very long. I work full-time, so he primarily goes out for a short time on the weekend and he is taken out for walks at times, which he loves.

So, I would like to thank you for all your advice, which has led to Jag still being with us and a much happier horse.
